Rome didn't waste time with incompetent emissaries. And most people in Quintus position were very ambitious characters. Quintus is just an ugly character who doesn't want to be stripped of his position of power due to incompetence. It's what happened in real life to Pontius Pilate, the main theory being that he was "fired" not long after Jesus death. Quintus killing a "protester" was probably pretty common. For example, Capernaum was burnt to the ground by Rome due to unrests a few years before Jesus death.

What I see is an actor playing the part of the Lord Jesus Christ who does not believe that His sacrifice was sufficient for the salvation of a person's soul, that some work must be added to His shed blood, or the Almighty will not accept His sacrifice.

There's something I've always wondered about Judas, and also about Peter denying Christ. Why did they do it? Was is because they succumbed to their emotions, or was it God's Will? Had Judas not betrayed Christ, the story might not have ended in His death and resurrection. Had Peter not denied Christ, he would have been killed as well and unable to continue his mission. I never saw them as weak men. I see them as men who did exactly what they were meant to do.

God, in His infinite wisdom, knows when it is time for us to stay on earth and when it is time for us to come home to Him. Maybe Ramah had fulfilled her purpose - bringing Thomas to Jesus and making sure he stayed. God doesn't control us like robots, not even Quintus. Quintus did something by accident (yes, I saw then even he was surprised) by his own nastiness and must pay the price. Ultimately, Ramah is with the Lord. Sad, but another great episode. Lost love; lost life; the consequences of unrighteous behavior.

I believe Jesus said that to Simon when he answered Jesus is the Messiah especially because Simon and his wife had just been attacked by the gates of hell AND more specifically in the area of fertility. The show depicted the loss of their baby, and yet that did not stop Simon and his wife from declaring Jesus as the Son of the living God. So "upon this rock I will build my Kingdom and even the gates of hell shall not overcome it" was really symbolic. That was also why Jesus had someone wait on Simon, as the mission would "depend on him." ❤

I believe Judas was a case of expectation vs reality. All his life he believed there's more to life than what was in his hometown and family in Kariot, and wanted to be part of something greater. He left his family and town. He had something to prove. He found a livelihood, but he wasn't satisfied. When he heard about Jesus, yes he believed Jesus was The One. And He knew Jesus will change the world. And as he wanted to be part of something great, he left his livelihood to followed Him. But what he missed was to see the greatness in the mission, and not just the surface. He expected they will be living the rockstar lifestyle and be important. When he experienced the reality of following Jesus, he wanted to incorporate his ways to the ministry. He might have come from good intention of "elevating" the Kingdom by "fixing" their financial struggles through "easier" routes, but not trusting Jesus' ways led him to forget to deny self (and his worldly ways) to eventually betraying Him. He placed his will before God's. Yet Jesus was so compassionate with Judas AND US. I believe he knew that Judas has this inferiority complex, coming from Kariot and all and that he wanted to be someone greater than himself, and he gave him that. Today Judas is one of the most memorable people in history. I believe we will still see Judas in Heaven, because He played a big part in the completion of God's Kingdom, and because Jesus loves Him. All He wants is to free us and redeem us back to God. ❤

It all made so much sense when in season 3 Jesus didn’t not take Thomas when he rose the little girl from Death so . Thomas did not know Jesus could raise the dead.

I believe the path of the disciples reflects the typical church attendee. Even though these guys had a relationship to Jesus, spent time with Him, they still did not GET IT! When I was on a mission trip to Nigeria, the powerhouses of faith (wow! What glowing faces they had), would approach me and wanted to know whether I was a Christian OR a believer. Believers "get it" and have paid a dear price in the obtaining that Spirit. So I don't fault the disciples for not seeing The Kingdom of Heaven.

But Jesus is the "Rock of offense", Paul declares 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock PETRA that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. (1 Cor. 10:4 NKJ) This is a Roman Catholicism to make this error and it is incredibly wrong declaring Peter the cornerstone of the Church!
